Mile High Chocolate Mousse Pie

I’m not usually one for grocery story magazine browsing, but when walking past the check out counter, the cover of the 2018 Bon Appétit Chocolate Lovers issue caught my eye. I’m not surprised - I love Alex Lau’s food photography and sure enough the cover was his doing. After flipping through one mouthwatering chocolate dessert after another, I knew I had to have the issue. One $13 impulse buy later, I was at home whipping up this Mile-High Chocolate Mousse Pie.

The name comes from the sheer height of this pie - and impressive 6-7” tall. At the foundation is a flakey pie crust, followed by a layer of crushed Oreo crumbs and an extra thick portion of rich chocolate mousse. Last, a heaping coating of whipped cream (enhanced with crème fraîche!) and a generous sprinkling of more Oreo crumbs and dark chocolate shavings. This is true decadence, people.
